Jazz Suite Nr.2 - Part 1: March - Fanfare Band
Fanfare Band - The Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich wrote his Jazz Suite Nr. 2 in 1938 commissioned by the Russian State Orchestra for Jazz. This orchestra was then under the musical direction of Serge Koussevitzky. As in his first suite also comes in this second jazz suite the genius and the sense of humor of the composer strongly evident. Although the name suggests that with real unadulterated jazz deal, this is not entirely true. On the contrary, the composition contains virtually no jazz elements. It's more of a ballet suite western especially Viennese - influences from the romance. Part 1 of this second jazz suite titled March. It is a frivolous, somewhat mocking march full of humor and looks more like a circus than a march.
