Viaggio in Umbria - Wind Band
Wind Band - This compostion is a musical trip to one of the central regions of Italy: Umbria.
The piece begins with a brief Andante introducing the religious theme representing the mystical aspect of Umbria. A new section in Allegro introduces the theme of the trip; rhythmic phrases that often appear in the course of the piece, have a pivotal function, and mark a sudden change in thematic course with the intent to represent the change in the natural landscape and architecture.
The oboe in the Adagio exposes the theme of the tranquility after which the whole orchestra takes up the initial repeat of the earlier Allegro. In a short Coda end all the issues set out above are flowing together as a souvenir of the trip. A rhythmic quote of the religious theme concludes the piece.
