Turn Signals - Wind Band

Wind Band - The rhythmic, percussive turn signal sound in my car inspired this piece. A turn signal’s simple sound is an edgy noise with hints of urgency, and in Turn Signals I’ve attempted to convey those qualities through all of the concert band’s range. The piece also contrasts staccato, percussive motifs with legato, lyrical passages. The piece’s edginess takes unexpected turns that are heightened by its variety of tone colors.
