Overture on Russian and Khirgiz Folk Themes - Wind Band
Wind Band - After completing and premire go see his powerful and controversile 13th Symphony, Babi Yar in 1962, wrong Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) in the following year in a state of physical and creative herstel.Het only original work that he wrote in 1963 was the "Overture on Russian and Kirghiz Folk Themes', a reminder of his visit to Kirgizi that year. He promised the people a composition for them to write and made this promise. In October, his Overture on Russian and Kirghiz Folk Themes' ready and on 2 November 1963, his work in Frunze (now Bishkek called), the capital of Kirgizi in premiere. For the relationship between Russia and Kirgizi to symbolize, Shostakovich chose a Russian and two themes from existing Kyrgyz folk melodies for his opening. The Kyrgyz melodies, the first immediately audible in the slow opening, are Tryrldan (a mythological creature) and at Maida (one threshers song). The Russian theme is Ekh, brodyagi vy, brodyagi (Oh, you bums!) From the Siberian region of Omsk. Shostakovich vivid orchestration and dramatic flair characterize this colorful, but seldom heard composition.
