Le Chasseur Maudit - Wind Band
Wind Band - Csar Franck was in composing this work inspired by the ballad "Der wanted Jger" by Gottfried August Bu? Rgers (1747-1794). This ballad tells how a young count on a Sunday morning to decide to hunt. Two strange horsemen align themselves with him. One rider has his evil spirit who encourages him to continue, the other is his conscience asks him to go back. The count continues and chasing a deer. This deer escape the chapel of eenkluizenaar. This begs the count for the deer to this divine place and during this holy day to spare. The Count refuses supplication and blasphemes. After his disappearance Blasphemy his servants, horses and dogs suddenly vanished and the count stands entirely alone. In the darkness hear the count now a terrifying voice of 'above'. The Count must now bear the consequences of his blasphemy. He now every night - a thousand hellhounds haunted - forever jagen.Csar Franck begins his composition with a musical representation of the forest and hunting. Church bells indicate that it is Sunday. The horns give an ever increasing pace of the hunt. Musically aptly displayed by the composer is also announcing the terrible future for the count and the perpetual rage through the night. Beautiful classical music in an excellent arrangement by Martin Koekelkoren.
