Fanfare Band - The originating from Brunssum composer Leon Vliex (Heerlen, 1968) comes from a musical family. With a grandfather and father as conductor, he grew up with wind music. At age 19 he moved to Utrecht and started his studies Musicology at the University of Utrecht. This study has successfully concluded in 1993 with the thesis Pillarization and Ontzuiling in the Amateur Band. In addition, Leon Hafadirectie studied at the Hilversum Conservatory with Gerrit Fokkema. This study, in 1991 he successfully completed. During his studies he already began to compose, where he mainly paid attention to the fanfare. His composition Composition VIII initially made for fanfare band got into operation for the first prize in the league during an international composition of Trento (Italy). Many of his compositions have been performed at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade and official league competitions and championships. From the wind music world he gets many commissions for new works to create. As a composer Leon Vliex autodidact. His composition Jubil Dargent was composed by order of the Frisian Senior Orchestra on the occasion of the 25th anniversary in 2007. The composition consists of 3 parts with its own character. Part 1 has the character of a Intrada. Trumpets and trombones open with a fanfare-like theme. At the end this theme in combination with a festive theme of the saxophones and the soft copper. Part 2 is slow in tempo and in the beginning a cinematic character. After a soft start gradually leads to a dynamic climax, followed by a soft and lyrical section with the character of a Nocturne. Part 3 is fast and furious with many technical passages for various instrumental groups.
