The chorale Jesu, meine Freude is a five-part motet for chorus and bears the number BWV 227. This motet is chronologically difficult to classify. In general, it is assumed that this coral from the time of Leipziger Bach once, so between 1723 and 1735. Bach composed the chorale probably for a funeral or in memory of a particular person.
