Initiales - Fanfare Band
Fanfare Band - This composition was commissioned by the Frisian Fanfare Orchestra. All themes and motifs based on the notes DSCH, the initials of Dmitri Schostakovich. The beginning of the composition has a meditative character (saxophones, vibraphone, woodblock and various percussion effects). After a short full orchestra fortissimo has played the main theme proposed by the tuba and later by the bugles. This theme is then taken up by the whole orchestra. The first part of the work ends with a cadenza of the alto saxophone, which is supplemented with the soprano, tenor and baritone saxophone, accompanied by the vibraphone and marimba. A woodblock solo ensures the transition to the Allegro (hi-hat solo). The euphoniums and bugles play back the main theme. Then a big impact, partly with virtuoso passages, the whole always infused with countless DSCH motifs (eg fugato between tuba / trombone-trumpet horns). In the middle of this impact is then initiated by the glockenspiel (DSCH) a saxophone quartet joined. Even the use of these four saxophones start with the notes DSCH After a brief review of the main theme at a slow pace carries a long coda to a violent end of the composition. The last 15 measurements are initiated by the geoctaveerd proposals Initials.
