Edvard Hagerup Grieg (Bergen-Norway, 15 June 1843Bergen September 4, 1907) is without doubt the most famous Norwegian composer. He studied between his 15th and 19th year at the conservatory in Leipzig and later at the Danish composer Niels Gade. His earliest works belong to German Romanticism. His later compositions are characterized by seemingly simple melodies with a unique and subtle chromatic harmonic style, which he drew from the Norwegian folk music. Grieg wrote in 1876, the incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt. In the last part of this Peer Gynt Suite is the fearful escape from Peer Gynt from the hall of the trolls of Norwegian highlands displayed, in this very special arrangement in a rhythmic modern jacket for bass trombone solo inserted.
