Gymnopédie No.1 - Fanfare Band
Fanfare Band - Erik Satie composed his Gymnopdie no.1 in 1888. He wrote this piece for piano. Debussy made an orchestration. In this work it is clear that Satie - which was mainly inspired by medieval music and architecture - composed according to the principle of the kit. Thus he found a solution to the problem of his insufficient knowledge of music theory. He used only prefabricated elements, which he independently of conventional parameters such as melody, rhythm and harmony, wielded. Without fixed set could each of these elements at different pitches concatenated so that a neutral guide tone and thus creates a static sound. By this application ran Satie in the 1890s forward a technique that until the second half of the twentieth century would be important, namely the serial music and aleatoric music.
