From te Shores of the mighty Mediterranean - Fanfare Band
Fanfare Band - From the Shores of the Mighty Mediterranean is written for Fred Mills, an excellent musician and trumpet soloist, known for his long collaboration with Canadian Brass.Van the many styles in which he excelled, was the American Bel Epoque, represented by the works of Arther Pryor, Herbert Clarke and many others, one of his favorieten.Ik am an American who spent most of his life living in Italy, and I liked the scene, which to this musical tradition is remembered, to write fred. Wl a composition with the necessary nuances Mediterranean (The famous cornet solo by Herbert Clarke, From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific was an example for the title). The first part, Icarus Flies, is inspired by the Greek myth about someone who gets into trouble by flying high z, that he by the sun burns. A risk that many trumpet runs, but not Fred! Sirens Sing follows with its enchanting but strange melody, in varying time signatures. Do not look back! Enotria, the last part, derives its name from the word used by the Greeks used to refer to Italy, The Land of Wine. Beautiful name! The piece closes, after a brief reference to Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony, with a typical lively tarantella.
