Fairest Isle - Fanfare Band
Fanfare Band - King Arthur is the second of five Purcell's semi-operas and was first staged in London in June 1691. The semi-opera is a play which is sung either an opera with spoken text. The tone of this work is extremely patriotic but has nothing to do with the many legends of King Arthur. The king of Kent, Oswald, is a Saks. He Emmeline, daughter of the Duke of Cornwall, the court, although she is betrothed to King Arthur. Oswald the British decision to declare war to Emmeline it only starts the music portion of the work. The battle ends to the detriment of the Saxons, but Oswald chess Emmeline. After all sorts of complications and involvement of the wizard Merlin comes ultimately to reconciliation and the opera ends with a festive masquerade. Musically belongs to Purcell's King Arthur and the most memorable works aria Fairest Isle is one of the most famous songs from this opera.
