Fanfare Band - Do They Know It's Christmas? was recorded in 1984 by Band Aid, a charity supergroup of popular pop and rock stars, and was inspired to raise money to relieve those affected by the famine in Ethiopia. The song confronts the listener with the fact that Western Europe celebrates Christmas while people in the third world are dying from hunger. A remake appears in 2014 raising money for the fight against ebola in Afrika. Now recorded by Band Aid 30 (30 years after the 1st Band Aid).
