Composition VIII - Fanfare Band

Fanfare Band - Each composer has his sources of inspiration from which he can draw when composing a new work. For n can that nature are, for the other a painting or a particular event. The paintings of Wassily Kandinsky and the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, Hardy Mertens and John Adams are a great source of inspiration for the creren of Composition VIII. They have made a significant contribution to the development of my own ideas. "And of the finest paintings of Kandinsky's" Composition VIII "which explains the title right away. The color compositions and the floating of checkerboard-like patterns, circles and half circles in the beeldvak appealed to me from the beginning a lot. The nut material, which is largely determined by the use of the octotonic scale starting with half a second, is closely related to that of Shostakovich in eg. his Symphony no 10. I use this nuts material both horizontally and vertically. A lasting impression of the compositions of n Hardy Mertens on me. Is there life n "The Eighteen Levels of Hell?" And finally the incredible powerhouse of music by John Adams, value for feeling no end seems to come.
