Wind Band - The oratorio Paulus is similar in structure to the passions of Bach and the oratorios of Handel. In terms of atmosphere it is undeniably romantic. It is the first major oratorio from the romance with arias, recitatives corals and distinct features of oratorios of the Baroque and Classical period. Mendelssohn has added completely new elements to orchestration, melodies and sound. This created a modern and innovative work for that time. The coral 'Allein Gott in der Hoh sei Ehr' is one of the many beautiful choir parts of this oratorio.
