Wind Band - After a sombre opening evoking the dour woollen mills and the forbidding Pennine scenery, the music becomes more melodic rather than dramatic. Happiness and poignant sadness are depicted as opposing but intertwined. Facets of Yorkshire life, all effected through the use of development from a single motif originally stated in the introduction.
