Danse Roumaine - Wind Band
Wind Band - The French composer Charles Gounod was born on June 17, 1818, in Paris. His entire musical career spanned church music and secular works. Danse Roumaine premiered in Paris in 1888. The work is cast in sonata form with an introduction in which the themes are outlined. This is followed by a furious toccata, and the first theme in D minor makes its entrance. This theme has a touch of Eastern Europe. Modulating variations lead to the second theme, which ascends and descends the F major scale in dotted rhythms.
