5e Balletsuite ”The Bolt” - Wind Band
Wind Band - Shostakovich wrote his ballet "The Bolt" (bolt) in the years 1930-1931. Venue is a plant in the Soviet Union. Drunk workers get their redundancy and revenge n tries to sabotage the workers a lathe. He cites a colleague about a bolt in the machine to drop. These colleagues will, however at the last minute repentance and the saboteur is vastgenomen.In 1931, the composer of the ballet suite of 8 parts, of which Jean Cosemans six parts expertly arranged for concert band. Part 1 - (Overture) trumpets announce the momentous to the overture, backed by the full orchestra. Then the initial theme into a rich contrast allegro. Part 2 (The bureaucrat) begins with a duet for flute and bassoon and alternates with trombone glissandos. Part 3 (The Dance of the Drayman) shows the typical trombone glissando to sing and dance a proud throughout the orchestra. Volume 4 (Dance of the colonial slave woman) begins at a slow pace and then goes into a presto tempo dance-with a leading role for flutes and clarinets. Part 5 (The appeaser) is a long shiny xylophone solo, which apparently a nonentity voorstelt.Deel 6 (General dance and apotheosis) is the sparkling finale of the ballet. This magnificent work is only suitable for brass bands from the highest branches.
