Of Deprivation & Confidence - Wind Band

Wind Band - Of Deprivation & Confidence was composed in 2022 and commissioned by the Bergkapelle Saar and its conductor Bernhard Stopp. The whole piece is based on the first four notes of the famous German miner's song Glück Auf (Good luck). This short motif undergoes a lot of mutations of all kinds throughout the composition: thematically, rhythmically, tempowise, instrumentation-wise... On the one hand, the music describes the hard work and hardships the miners had to endure and, on the other hand, their hope for a better life.
